Audition Workshop: Sing, Dance, Act
6/11–6/15  Course#:  13766  Fee: $152R/$217NR
Young People’s Teen Musical Theatre Company presents this informative and fast-paced workshop designed to prepare young performing arts enthusiasts interested in auditioning for high school, college, or theatre. This workshop will include resume writing, head shots taken by a professional photographer, in depth lectures and master classes, and interview and presentation skills. This workshop targets musical theatre preparation and all participants must participate in all three disciplines; singing, dancing, and acting. Intensive preparation in acting, dance, and vocal will include vocabulary and one-on-one instructional teaching. This workshop will conclude with a required showcase performance on the
final day of session where each participant will showcase a vocal selection, monologue
and choreographed dance routine. Parents, guardians, and family are invited. Previous
experience is recommended. Participants without experience may inquire with the director,
Nicola Bosco-Alvarez, at director@yptmtc.org. Full attendance is required. Please bring a bag lunch or money for lunch, snack, water/ refillable water bottle, 3-ring binder, pencil and paper.

Music and Vocal Workshop

Young People’s Teen Musical Theatre Company presents an intensive singing workshop with emphasis on musical theatre performance. Participants will take technique classes daily learning valuable breathing techniques, music theory and vocabulary, voice control, increased awareness of their own vocal ability, and learn how to harmonize in a group. All individual and group classes are taught by experienced professionals and master teachers. Participants will be expected to sing as a soloist, in small groups, and as a large ensemble. Participants are expected to be able to keep focused and learn in a class type setting. This workshop will conclude with a required showcase performance on the final day of session where each participant will showcase assigned vocal selections. Parents, guardians, and family are invited. Previous experience is recommended. Participants without experience may inquire with the director, Nicola Bosco-Alvarez, at director@yptmtc.org. Acting Workshop

Young People’s Teen Musical Theatre Company presents this fast-paced workshop designed to challenge young actors with emphasis on acting techniques and improvisation. During this workshop we will explore scene studies, working in partners, small groups and individually. Participants are expected to follow scenes and scripts from Broadway musicals, plays, short stories, Shakespeare, and additional provided material. Workshopping of original scripts is not permitted. This workshop will conclude with a required showcase performance on the final day of session where each participant will showcase assigned scene selections. Parents, guardians, and family are invited. Previous experience is recommended. Participants without experience may inquire with the director, Nicola Bosco-Alvarez, at director@yptmtc.org. Stage Craft Workshop

Young People’s Teen Musical Theatre Company presents this hands-on, interactive, tactile workshop for technical theatre & stage craft. Participants will learn basics of lighting for special effects, digital sound arts, and adaption of set design based on selected Broadway musicals and plays. Build small scale dioramas, learn theatrical make-up, and costume design. Participate in collaborative designs, individually and as a team. This workshop takes place in a classroom setting and does not allow for large scale building or woodworking in a theatre. Participants will be expected to work alone, in pairs, and small or large groups. Focus and learn in a class type setting, use fine motor-skills, participate in group discussions, and use multiple mediums in projects. Workshop concludes with a required gallery exhibit and presentation of designs. Parents, guardians, and family are invited. Previous experience is recommended. Please bring lots of water or a refillable water, a snack, a bag lunch or money for lunch (off site permission required) a 3-ring binder, pencil, highlighter, and drawing or design tools (if available). **Full attendance is required.

Dance Workshop
7/16–7/27   Course#: 13767  Fee: $294R/$424NR
Young People’s Teen Musical Theater Company presents this intensive 2-week performance based workshop to challenge dancers from all techniques and backgrounds. This workshop will embrace different styles and techniques including classical ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, ballroom, Latin styles, musical theatre and more! Participants must be able to endure multiple classes a day, each lasting minimum of 1-2 hrs. Participants must be able to follow fastpaced choreography, work in pairs or groups, and be willing to explore different dance genres. Participants will explore creating original choreography in an ensemble. Classes will be taught by experienced professionals and master teachers. This workshop will conclude with a showcase performance on the final day of session. Parents, guardians, and family are welcome. Minimum 1 year dance training or equivalent experience is required. Participants without experience may inquire with the director, Nicola Bosco-Alvarez, at director@yptmtc.org and will be accepted on a case by case basis. Full attendance is required. Please bring a bag lunch or money for lunch, healthy snacks, water/ refillable water bottle, dance shoes: ballet and/or jazz and tap shoes required. Wear appropriate clothing for dance and long hair should be pulled back tightly away from the face for each day of session.

Musical Theatre: Performance Intensive
7/30–8/10  Course#: 13769  Fee: $294R/$424NR
Young People’s Teen Musical Theatre Company presents this two week intensive camp that will challenge young adults with a strong interest in musical theater. Participants will receive daily technique classes and instruction as a “triple threat” singer, dancer & actor. Each participant will take daily classes in voice, acting, and dance, and learn staging and choreography for performance in solo, small group and ensemble selections from Broadway musicals in an original revue. Participants will be expected to audition on the first day of sessions for parts and placement only. Enrollment in the performance is guaranteed. To audition, please prepare a 16-32 bar cut of an upbeat Broadway song, bring sheet music in the appropriate key for accompanist (provided), and a classical or contemporary monologue (memorized) less than 2 min. Be prepared to dance. Shoes required: ballet and/or jazz and tap. Previous experience is recommended. Participants without experience may inquire with the director, Nicola Bosco-Alvarez, at director@yptmtc.org. Full attendance is required. Please bring a bag lunch or money for lunch, snack, water/ refillable water bottle, 3-ring binder,pencil and paper. Wear appropriate dance clothing each day, and long hair should be pulled tightly away from face.
