About / Information

Young People’s Teen Musical Theatre Company (YPTMTC) is a performing arts company devoted to bringing quality and professional level theatre to young adults in the Bay Area.  Sponsored by the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, and supported by Friends of the Company (FOTC). Members range in age from 13- 19 and are selected by open audition only.

Founded in 1984 by founder, Diane Price. YPTMTC offers quality instruction in drama, voice, acting, dance and technical theatre.  Nurtured by a team of professional instructors and passionate artistic staff, we strive to give inspired individuals the opportunity to experience musical theatre at a professional level, while building self-esteem and creating a safe and encouraging environment.  YPTMTC stages 3 major productions a year, community service performances,  summer workshops, and master classes. Members of Company are not charged monetary fees during the school year and pay a nominal fee for the Summer Programs.

YPTMTC draws a wide diversity of young adults from many different middle schools, high schools, and ethnic backgrounds.  Company members grow and learn artistically and individually, and create new and lasting friendships.  Whether studying theatre recreationally or in pursuit of a career, we provide training and life skills to be successful on stage and beyond.  Many alumni of the Company are continuing to study theater, dance and music in college and have been cast in professional productions.
