Summer 2022 – Session 1 & 2- Virtual Classes

Creative Art Exploration
Instructor: Michelle Champlin
Tuesdays 4-5pm
Session 1: June 7 – June 28 (6/7, 6/14, 6/21, 6/28)
Session 2: July 12 – August 2 (7/12, 7/19, 7/26, 8/2)
Come have some fun in this ultimate creative arts class which combines both imagination and inspiration from real-world images.  We will be inventing imaginary scenes, creating intricate abstract works of art, and making the mundane extraordinary using both drawing and painting techniques.  On our journey we will explore some of the elements and principles of art, which are foundational pillars of a visual arts education.  This class aids in the development of visual art skills, which can help prepare students for entering visual arts high schools and beyond.
Materials needed:  basic sketch paper, basic set of colored pencils (including black), number 2 pencil, eraser, pencil sharpener, basic watercolor paint set, watercolor paper, a few various sized paint brushes, and at least one flat paint brush. (Materials for Creative Art Exploration are the same materials used for Painting the Planet.  Students are welcome to simultaneously take both classes).


Painting the Planet 
Instructor: Michelle Champlin

Teens only 13-18
Come explore the vast landscapes of planet earth through painting.  We will look at striking images of deserts, rainforests, sunsets, ocean scenes, and more in our process of creating unique works of art using basic watercolor painting and drawing techniques.  On our journey we will explore some of the elements and principles of art, which are foundational pillars of a visual arts education.  This class aids in the development of visual art skills, which can deepen secondary visual arts education.

Introduction to 3D Animation T(w)een

Learn to navigate through Blender to create your own models, characters, and animations.  Blender is a free and open-source 3D creation suite.  More information about Blender at:  https://www.blender.org/download. This class will be taught virtually using Zoom – the class link will be shared the day of the class.

Collage-A-Rama

Teens Only – 13 to 18 years old

Prepare to cut loose and get messy. This hands-on workshop will introduce you to some of the most innovative collage artists and their techniques while you explore a variety of 2-D and 3-D materials to make personal, meaningful art. 


Advanced Blender Workshop

Teens Only – 13 to 18 years old​

Where do the teens go after learning how to model, rig, and animate in Blender?  Advanced Animation Workshop.
We go over what teens are creating and all work together to help each other out.  We finesse building rigs, try new animation techniques, and model the next video game.  This is an all-level, open workshop for devotees. Student must have Blender already downloaded onto your computer before the first class. https://www.blender.org/download This class will be taught virtually using Zoom
